Definition of Co-op

Involving mutual assistance in working toward a common goal | purpose | benefit

WHY the invitation?

In my career, I have started a few “study groups” (current active group is “Brews & Bogeys”) in which the primary driver was to bring together like-minded entrepreneurial folks in the financial services industry to share best practices and learn from each other.

We’ve also had a lot of fun together! I started ARC with the idea of bringing the study group model to a wider audience. This outlet will hopefully formalize the countless texts and emails I get from people asking, “Hey MJ, do you know a person who can help me with ______?”

At this point, ARC is by invitation only and will be limited to people I have crossed paths with during my amazing career as part of the incredible RIA Community I have helped build over the past 30 years. Please note, this study group will have Sponsored content as well as Sponsors/Partners monitoring the chat rooms.

My intent is to improve this format to where we have Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) hosting their own rooms, as I firmly believe we all owe it to our clients to stay informed on current industry trends and best practices.

About Advisor Resource Co-op

Advisors Resource Co-op (ARC) unofficially started back in 1994 when I first began working with RIAs (a time when many in the financial services community had no idea that this form of advice channel via the SEC existed.) After spending several years as a “custody hustler – wholesaler” for Charles Schwab Advisor Services and TD Ameritrade Institutional, as well as working for two RIA firms based in Cincinnati and Louisville, I retired at the end of 2022 to start my own consulting firm.

During the 28+ years working with RIAs, my biggest joy was the building of amazing relationships & interactions with over 1000 + firms! So, as one of my last “chapters” and to pay it forward, ARC was formed as a NATL Study Group of RIAs.

A little bit about me for those I have yet to meet… I have been married for 36 incredible years and enjoy spending time with 3 married children, 5 amazing grandchildren, as well as digging holes and fixing fences for 5 goats, 2 ponies, 8 chickens, 2 dogs, a cat, a rabbit, and a guinea pig.

The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.”
